Cornell United Way Campaign co-chairs Andy Noel, the Meakem*Smith Director of Athletics and Physical Education, and Kathy Zoner, chief of the Cornell University Police, were awarded the Patricia E. Stage Outstanding Volunteer of the Year award at the United Way Community Campaign celebration and volunteer recognition breakfast held June 8 at the Country Club of Ithaca. Noel and Zoner received the award for their outstanding service to UWTC and the community as champions of the Cornell United Way campaign.

They will continue as co-chairs for the 2017-18 Cornell United Way Campaign.

The Outstanding Volunteer of the Year award was established in 2004 in honor of Patricia Stage (pictured above) for her outstanding work as a United Way volunteer. For several years, Stage devoted countless hours serving on both the Campaign Committee and the Allocations Committee, now known as the Community Investment Committee. She was a year-round volunteer for UWTC.

Also highlighted at the event were The William Henry Miller Inn, receiving the Contributor of the Year award; two campaign videos produced by Well Said Media that showed important services provided by UWTC Partners O.A.R and Franziska Racker Centers; two performances by the GIAC Step Team, and the Corporate Cornerstone Partners Program. The Corporate Cornerstone Partners Program allows for 100 percent of donors' gifts to build and support health and human services programs in the local communities.

2016-17 UWTC Campaign Chair Joe Mareane announced that UWTC raised $1,907,442. Cornell historically has contributed about 40 percent of the funding toward that campaign.
