Cornell University was recently named as a gold-level recipient of the American Heart Association’s (AHA) Fit-Friendly Worksites recognition program. The Fit-Friendly Worksites program recognizes employers who champion the health of their employees through innovative approaches to healthy lifestyle changes.

Bike to work May 15

Help celebrate National Bike to Work/School Day, May 15. Part of a series of events brought by the Tompkins County Commuter Challenge, and sponsored by Cornell University Transportation Services and Way2Go, a program of Cornell Cooperative Extension Tompkins County.

Go Go Go 150 celebrates fitness and Sesquicentennial

Go-go-go contest

About 250 participants, representing some 1,100 participants on more than 162 teams, joined Cornell’s Wellness Program in Ives Hall March 13 to kick off the “Go Go Go 150” challenge. The contest spans over six weeks and encourages teams to engage in at least 150 minutes of physical activity per person per week. Those who attended received rubber bracelets for themselves and their team mates. The bracelets remind members to go, go, go!

Throughout March, Cornell Dining is motivating students and staff to eat more fruits and vegetables with the “Have you had your five today?” program, encouraging the campus community to eat five cups of fruits and vegetables each day, and offering new and appealing dishes highlighting colorful produce.

Every week, some 150 Cornell students, faculty and staff do downward facing dog, cobra, lizard and other poses under the guidance of Cornell Wellness teacher Emma Silverman.
